Why Every Piece Is One of One
By Shawnee · July 30, 2026

Every Styled by Shawnee piece is created in small quantities or as a true one-of-one using thoughtfully selected materials and an artist's eye.
People often ask if I can make another pair exactly like the one they saw. Sometimes I can—but often I can't.
I design from the materials I already have in my studio rather than ordering unlimited quantities of the same components. Every button, appliqué, strand of chain, rhinestone, bead, or decorative finding has its own limited lifespan. Once those materials are used, they're gone.
Because of that, each design is shaped by what's available at that moment. Even if I revisit an idea later, different materials lead to a different result. The design evolves instead of being reproduced.
Some collections may include a small number of matching pairs, while others exist as a single piece. The quantity isn't determined by demand—it's determined by the materials themselves.
My goal isn't mass production. It's making the most of thoughtfully chosen materials and allowing each piece to have its own character. When a design sells, another may take its place, but it will never be exactly the same.
Today, every piece I create is made to be worn and enjoyed by someone else. Once it's gone, it's part of someone else's story—and that's exactly how I like it.
